21 June - Cape Town

There is so much I want to tell you all, but I feel that there is little time. I am exhausted, I am dying for a nice hot shower. I will do my best to fit as much into this post as possible and I am going to apologize ahead of time if I jump around a bit.

The latest adventure started at the car rental place, Avis. I had nightmares the night before of this experience. I find it incredible that they will rent a car to an American that has never driven on the left side of the road with out a test. But so they do. Believe it or not I did really well. And had a lot of fun. It was such a beautiful drive up to the Drakensberg. And would you believe for the first time driving on the left side I was driving a Mercedes?! Suppose it's a fairly standard car overseas - it was the equal to a Toyota Corolla according to Avis.

The Drakensberg, a.k.a. the Berg, was breathtaking. We were only in the southern Berg at Suni Pass, but I would have loved to of seen the central and the northern. We arrived on Wednesday and Angela and I took a small hike, actually about a 7 mile hike up a good size mountain - I realized just how out of shape I am (James, I'm definitely going to be ready to join that gym when I get back ;) ). The second day we took the Suni Day Pass
Tour and drove up in a 4WD and went into Lesotho and visited with people from the local village and also had a drink at the highest pub in Afirca! We stayed at a backpackers lodge - without heat. Keep in mind it's their winter, although it is nothing compared to winter in the States. Below are pictures from the past few days - it's so hard to decide on which ones as there are many. I am planning that after these first few weeks I will post all my pictures thus far and send the link.

This is Angela just at the beginning of the hike, the mountain ahead is what we are about to climb...
